Trauma is an emotional response to a single or series of distressing
or life threatening events. Imagine how divorce, death, physical, emotional are sexual abuse are experienced by a child. Imagine the long-term affect of trauma on a person’s life. Unresolved trauma can manifest as depression, anxiety, anger, and many more emotions.
It is common for parents who have experienced trauma to unconsciously
allow their trauma to traumatize their child. In many cases, parents are simply
trying to protect their child. A history of trauma can create walls of protection in relationship, often making it difficult to connect with others.
